“A FULL LIFE… NOT A SAFE ONE”
A perfect life? Nah....
Someone said to me Pastor what you preach is
“You don’t want a perfect life. You want a full one.”
Amen.
That’s pastoring Heritage Church.
That’s serving the Kingdom while trying not to trip over whatever wild thing the Holy Spirit decides to do next.
Because God never called His people to sit still, stay cute, or live predictable little Pinterest lives.
The Kingdom moves.
The Spirit nudges.
And obedience? It always asks you to risk something—your comfort, your pride, your illusion of control.
And honestly? I’m fine with that.
I’d rather regret what I tried for God than be haunted by what I never had the courage to attempt.
Let’s be real: Playing it safe has never saved a soul.
Faith Is Movement, Not Maintenance
“The Spirit told Philip, ‘Go.’ So he GOT UP and WENT.” —Acts 8:29–30
Philip didn’t:
Take a poll
Consult his personality type
Google, “Is desert travel safe for normal humans?”
He just went.
Because faith—actual, biblical, kingdom-shifting faith—is never passive.
Faith is not a rocking chair.
Faith is a go-bag.
“Some people want a map. God gives a command.”
Heritage Church is moving because God is.
And if He’s on the move, then buckle up—I’m right behind Him, even if the ground quakes.
Joy Is Messy, Meaningful, and Worth Every Ounce of Cost
Jesus said: “I came that they may have life, and have it to the FULL.” —John 10:10
Ministry is messy.
People are messy.
Church is messy.
If God wanted sterile faith, He would’ve installed Purell in Eden.
I laugh hard.
I feel deep.
I pray fierce.
I love this people and God’s Work with reckless sincerity.
Because joy isn’t the absence of chaos—
Joy is Christ present inside the chaos.
“Jesus never waited for perfect conditions to perform a miracle.”
Joy isn’t clean.
But it is holy.
A Pastor Must Chase What Brings Life, Not What Brings Applause
“Set your minds on things above…” —Colossians 3:2
You’re always looking for the next thing that sets your spirit on fire?
Good. Welcome to what Kingdom focus actually feels like.
I don’t chase excitement.
I chase obedience.
But here’s the twist: obedience is exciting.
What lights me up?
Watching lives change
Watching faith deepen
Watching people worship like the grave is actual history (because it is)
I don’t want applause. I want awakening.
Risk Isn’t Reckless When God Is the One Calling
“Be strong and courageous… the Lord your God goes with you.” —Deut. 31:6
I don’t mind taking risks if it means someone else finds life in Jesus.
I’d rather:
Step out and fail-Than stand back and fade
Swing and miss
-Than sit and sulk
Jump and build the parachute midair-Than pretend that caution is a spiritual gift
You can’t pray ‘Your Kingdom come’ while refusing to come with it.
The Gospel is not safe—
But it is good.
And '
I’d rather follow the Lion of Judah into the unknown than follow fear into a familiar grave.
A Prescription for Living a Full, God-Breathed Life
For anyone allergic to boring Christianity, here’s your spiritual prescription:
Move when God says move—even if you’re trembling.
Laugh loudly. Love deeply. Serve boldly.
Chase meaning, not mediocrity.
Let joy be messy. Let faith be loud.
Stop waiting for perfect—obedience doesn’t need your permission slip.
Take risks for the Gospel; Heaven throws a party for movers.
Live full. Not safe.
Because the only thing worse than failing…
is never attempting what God whispered into your spirit.
Be Exhausted…
I’d rather be exhausted from obedience than comfortable in disobedience.
I don’t want a perfect life.
I want a purposeful life.
A full life.
A Kingdom-building life.
And with God leading—and Heritage Church rising—
we’re going to see things only faith can explain.
“Stay encouraged. Stay bold. Stay in the fight.”
The Best Is Yet to Come,
Rev. John Roberts

I am excited for the changes coming to Heritage!
