Becoming Ain’t for the Impatient
You must be patient when you’re becoming someone you’ve never been before.
Let’s Be Real…
Everybody loves to talk about “becoming.”
It sounds deep, poetic, even Instagram-worthy.
But nobody warns you that becoming is basically God saying,
“I’m gonna take everything comfortable in your life and put it in a blender.”
We shout “Make me new!” until He actually starts rearranging the furniture.
You asked for growth, but you didn’t realize pruning comes first.
And pruning? That’s just God’s fancy way of saying, “I’m about to cut something you wanted to keep.”
You can’t sprint through transformation.
God’s timeline doesn’t care about your watch.
And when it feels like He’s taking too long, remember:
He’s not late — He’s just thorough.
He’s the kind of God who triple-checks the blueprint before He hands you the blessing.
Transformation Takes Time — and It’s Never on Sale
We live in a world where everything’s “instant.”
Instant coffee. Instant results. Instant regret.
So naturally, we assume God should move like Amazon Prime — two-day delivery, free returns.
But God’s more like a slow cooker — not a microwave.
God’s a crockpot, so quit trying to microwave how He works!
He simmers character. He seasons faith.
He’ll let you marinate in the waiting room until impatience burns off like bad attitude.
Patience isn’t punishment — it’s protection.
If He gave you the platform before you had the patience, you’d ruin the opportunity He designed for your maturity.
Sometimes the delay isn’t the devil — it’s discipline.
He’s not trying to make you wait just to test you.
He’s trying to make sure when the door opens, you’re not still acting like who you used to be.
Becoming Means Breaking — and It’s Supposed to Hurt
Before God builds, He bulldozes.
He’ll tear down your comfort zones, crush your pride, and call it “construction.”
We cry out, “God, use me!”
And He replies, “Cool. Let’s start by breaking you.”
Not because He’s cruel — but because you can’t pour fresh oil into a cracked ego.
You’re not being punished — you’re being prepped.
The breaking isn’t to destroy you; it’s to shape you into something that can handle the blessing.
You keep asking God for new levels, but you’re still clinging to old behaviors.
That’s like trying to take your flip phone into 2025 and wondering why it doesn’t have Wi-Fi.
He’s not trying to make you comfortable — He’s trying to make you capable.
You can’t become new while defending the old.
You’re Not Behind — You’re in the Oven
When nothing seems to be happening, that’s actually when the most is.
The seed doesn’t complain about being buried — it’s too busy becoming.
So don’t panic in the dirt. That’s the birthplace of destiny.
You’re not forgotten — you’re in formation.
God hides what He’s healing so people won’t touch it before it’s ready.
He’ll let your name be left out of rooms for a season just to make sure your heart won’t need applause in the next one.
If it feels like everyone else is moving faster — relax.
They might be microwaved; you’re being slow-cooked.
One burns easy. The other feeds nations.
Becoming Someone You’ve Never Been Feels Like Losing Everyone You’ve Known
When God starts shifting you, you’ll notice people getting uncomfortable.
They liked the version of you who kept quiet, who said yes to everything, who didn’t set boundaries. That version worked for them — not for your calling.
So when relationships shift, don’t chase people who only loved your caterpillar stage.
They can’t understand your wings — and that’s fine.
You’re not losing people; you’re shedding what can’t go higher.
And honestly? Thank God. He’s saving you from carrying folks who only clapped for your bondage.
God’s Not in a Hurry — But He’s Never Late
You ever notice Jesus was always on time but never in a rush?
The man literally showed up four days after Lazarus died and still said, “He’s fine.”
Meanwhile, we’re out here panicking when something’s ten minutes behind schedule.
When God makes you wait, it’s not because He’s cruel.
It’s because He’s aligning every detail so when it happens — it really happens.
He’s not avoiding your request; He’s assembling your destiny.
And trust me — He’d rather make you wait than watch you waste it.
The Middle Is Messy but Holy
This is the part nobody tells you: becoming someone new is awkward.
You’ll outgrow things you used to love and second-guess the new you every five minutes.
You’ll feel too healed for your old life and too human for your new one.
But that’s where God does His best work — right in the middle of the mess.
Don’t fight the awkward; embrace it.
He’s molding your identity while you’re learning how to walk in it.
So if your life feels disorganized, unrecognizable, or downright confusing — congratulations.
You’re in the middle of your miracle.
You’re not being buried — you’re being built.
“Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
— James 1:4
Becoming…
Becoming someone you’ve never been before takes holy patience.
And patience isn’t sitting quietly with folded hands — it’s trusting God while He flips the script on your life.
If you’re frustrated, stretched, or just plain tired, don’t quit.
He’s not done — He’s developing.
You can’t fast-forward faith.
You can’t hurry holiness.
You can’t rush what’s rooted.
So breathe. Stay in the process.
You’re not who you were — and that’s the proof that He’s working.
You’re under construction, not under condemnation.
And remember…
The Best Is Yet to Come.
— Rev. John Roberts

Wonderful message! I continually pray for God to remake me into something more like what he would have me be. You words confirm for me that the process is slow and not without pain. But the process is well-worth the result.
