DON’T PARK THE RV YET
(Because God’s not done—and neither are you!)
SERMON OUTLINE
KEY SCRIPTURE:
“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.”
— Romans 8:11
BIG IDEA:
You never retire from God’s call—because purpose outlasts paychecks.
1. THE MYTH OF READINESS
Start where you are, not where you wish you were.
You’ll never feel “ready” to obey God—faith doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.
God asked Moses, “What’s in your hand?” (Exodus 4:2)
Moses had a stick. God had a plan.
Don’t let what you don’t have stop you from using what you do have.
Key thought:
Faith doesn’t wait for someday—faith starts today.
2. GOD DOESN’T HAND OUT GOLD WATCHES—HE HANDS OUT NEW ASSIGNMENTS
Retirement is a social construct. Calling is eternal.
America says, “You’ve earned your rest.”
God says, “You’re still on mission.”
Rest is biblical; retirement is optional.
Examples of late bloomers:
Abraham – Called at 75
Moses – Sent at 80
Caleb – Conquered at 85
Paul – Preaching from prison
Key thought:
You can retire from a job, but you can’t retire from your purpose.
3. PURPOSE OUTLASTS PAYCHECKS
If you’re breathing, God’s not done.
The same Spirit that raised Jesus lives in you (Romans 8:11).
No season of life is pointless—every one has purpose.
Ask yourself:
Am I looking for an excuse to escape or a call to engage?
“If you ain’t dead, you ain’t done.”
Key thought:
God isn’t finished with your assignment—He’s just finished with your excuses.
4. LIVE FOR LEGACY, NOT LUXURY
In God’s economy, greatness is measured by service, not storage.
Jesus said, “Store up treasures in heaven.” (Matthew 6:19–21)
You’ll never see a U-Haul behind a hearse.
The only treasure that lasts is people.
Greatness = Servanthood.
Key thought:
You don’t need a bigger RV—you need a bolder mission.
5. EMBRACE YOUR NEXT CHAPTER—JOIN THE RESURRECTION TEAM
You’re not too old to be bold—you’re just too wise to waste time.
God isn’t calling you to retire; He’s calling you to re-fire.
Heritage Church is stepping into a new chapter—not to coast, but to climb.
Let’s be a Resurrection Team: people who say, “Yes, Lord, count me in!”
Key thought:
The greatest adventure isn’t the open road—it’s the open tomb.
PERSONAL REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
What “RV” are you tempted to park in—where you’ve stopped believing for more?
What’s in your hand right now that God could use if you surrendered it?
Where might God be inviting you to re-engage in His mission?
CLOSING CHALLENGE:
Don’t park your faith when the journey’s not over.
Don’t park your purpose when heaven’s still open for business.
The world says: “Rest easy.”
God says: “Rise up.”
