Faith Looks Good on You
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
— Joshua 1:9
Faith Was Never Meant to Be Safe
Let’s be honest — sometimes Christians act like God’s main goal is to keep us comfortable. As if Jesus died on the cross so we could live in a bubble-wrapped faith, sipping holy lattes and saying, “I’ll pray about it” for three years straight.
No. Faith is not safe — faith is risky.
Every great move of God in Scripture required someone to do something that made zero sense on paper.
Noah built a boat — and it had never rained.
Abraham left his hometown — with no GPS and no Airbnb reservation.
Peter stepped out of a perfectly good boat — in a storm.
And what did God do?
He showed up every single time.
You Will Either… Win, Grow, or Learn the Route
When you take a risk in obedience, you can’t lose. You’ll either:
Get what God called you to — the victory, the breakthrough, the open door.
Get closer to what God called you to — you’ll gain direction, character, and endurance.
Get clarity about the next step — you’ll learn the map to the Promised Land.
That’s not failure; that’s formation.
Even when Israel wandered in the wilderness, God was using their wandering to teach them His ways. The Promised Land wasn’t just about geography — it was about growth.
Sometimes God delays the destination because He’s still developing the traveler.
Faith Feels Risky Because It’s Real
If you can do it without God, it’s not faith — it’s strategy.
If it doesn’t make your stomach drop a little, it’s not faith — it’s comfort.
If it doesn’t make people tilt their heads and ask, “Are you sure about that?” — you might not be walking by faith yet.
Heritage Church, God didn’t call us to play it safe.
We’re not called to maintain; we’re called to move.
Playing it safe is what dying churches do.
But we’re not dying — we’re resurrecting.
We’re the kind of church that prays bold prayers, takes holy risks, and expects impossible results because our God still parts Red Seas and rolls away stones.
Risk Is the Bridge Between Promise and Possession
Joshua and the Israelites stood at the Jordan River, staring at the land God promised. The only problem? The river was in flood stage.
Classic God move.
He doesn’t open the way until you step into it.
Joshua didn’t get to walk into promise without wet feet.
Neither will we.
God moves after you move.
The miracle happens mid-step.
So if God is calling you to give, serve, lead, start, or step — don’t wait for the water to recede. Step in and watch Him make a way.
Heritage Church: This Is Our Jordan Moment
We’re not where we were, and we’re not yet where we’re going — but the only way forward is through.
Every act of faith, every bold prayer, every ounce of generosity is a step closer to what God has called this church to become:
A place for every heart — and a people who walk by faith, not by sight.
We’re building schools, paving parking lots, launching ministries, hiring leaders — and none of it happens by standing on the shore.
This is our moment to step out.
Because faith may look foolish for a minute, but obedience looks brilliant forever.
Final Word
So go ahead — take the risk.
If you fall, God will teach you.
If you fail, God will grow you.
And if you fly — well, everyone will see what happens when people stop playing it safe and start walking by faith.
Faith looks good on you, Heritage Church.
Now step out.

God uses every failure and every success to teach and grow us. We need to be open to those lessons, even when they are difficult!
