Holy Optimism: Imagining the Best-Case Scenario—On Purpose!
Because if God is good, why are we imagining cinematic disasters instead of divine comebacks?
GOD HAS A TRACK RECORD OF BEST-CASE SCENARIOS (AND WILD FAITH PEOPLE)
Faith isn’t ignoring reality—it’s refusing to let reality act like it’s God.
God Regularly Asks People to Believe Absurdly Good Things
From Genesis to Revelation, God seems delightfully allergic to “reasonable outcomes.”
Abraham—told he’d be a father when AARP was sending him mailers.
“If God says you’re having a baby at 100, buy the stroller—don’t argue.”
(Genesis 15:5)
Israel at the Red Sea—best-case scenario? A path through the water.
God: “Bet.”
(Exodus 14:21–22)
Gideon—imagined victory with 300 men against thousands.
God: “Let’s downsize to make this more fun.”
(Judges 7:7)
God’s history with His people is basically one long highlight reel of best-case moments.
Why wouldn’t yours be next?
Scripture Commands Us to Aim Our Thoughts Higher
Philippians 4:8 literally says,
“Think about what is *true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, praiseworthy.”
Not:
“Think about everything that might ruin your Thursday.”
If your thoughts were a playlist, would Jesus subscribe or hit ‘skip all’?
FAITH REQUIRES A SANCTIFIED IMAGINATION
If worry is imagination baptized in fear, then hope is imagination baptized in the Spirit.
Your Imagination Is One of God’s Favorite Workspaces
Ephesians 3:20 says God can do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.”
Why mention imagination?
Because God expects you to use it.
Your imagination is the soil where faith grows its first roots.
Stop loaning your imagination to fear—it never pays rent.
Worst-Case Thinking Is Just Prophecy Practice Gone Wrong
Jesus literally says not to worry about tomorrow (Matthew 6:34).
But we say:
“Okay Lord, but what if I create a 47-step disaster movie in my head just to be prepared?”
No.
Worry is imagination turned against its Creator.
Don’t let your imagination become a horror genre when God wrote your life as a redemption arc.
HOW TO PRACTICE BEST-CASE SCENARIO THINKING DAILY
If you’re going to daydream anyway, at least let it glorify God.
Step 1: Ask the Sacred Question—What If God Actually Moves?
This is basically what every hero in Scripture had to ask.
What if the walls really fall (Joshua 6)?
What if dry bones really live (Ezekiel 37)?
What if the storm really stops (Mark 4:39)?
You’re in good company when you ask,
What if God does the thing I’m afraid to hope for?
Stop rehearsing the tragedy when God cast you for the miracle.
Step 2: Build the Best-Case Scenario in Your Mind Until It Flows Into Your Faith
Hebrews 11:1—faith is “the substance of things hoped for.”
Hope = imagination with Holy Spirit supervision.
Imagine the blessing so clearly that your faith can grab it.
Imagine peace actually feeling like peace.
Imagine provision actually showing up.
Imagine breakthrough actually happening.
Don’t shrink the vision—God’s not worried about the budget.
Step 3: Keep Going Daily (Because Hope Leaks Like a Holey Bucket)
Romans 12:12 says to “be constant in prayer” and “rejoice in hope.”
Hope is a practice, not an emotion.
Every day, imagine God writing a new chapter.
Every day, imagine His goodness getting closer.
Every day… keep going.
Consistency is the faith flex the devil hates the most.
Your mind is a feed—stop giving the enemy posting privileges.
Curate Your Mental Feed
Philippians 4:8 is basically God telling you to unfollow half your thoughts.
Fear tries to flood your mental feed with:
“You’re not enough.”
“This can only get worse.”
“Prepare to fail.”
Block. Mute. Restrict. Report for spiritual harassment.
If anxiety had a TikTok account, it would be thirst-trapping your peace.
Become the Influencer of Your Own Thought Life
Let your spirit post content like:
“God is faithful” (1 Corinthians 1:9)
“Surely goodness and mercy follow me” (Psalm 23:6)
“He works all things for good” (Romans 8:28)
Make positivity go viral in your soul—don’t let fear control the algorithm.
A HOLY, BIBLICAL, SASSY BLESSING
Practice imagining the best-case scenario.
Not because life is perfect,
but because God is, and He loves to exceed expectations.
Quip: “You’re not delusional—you’re prophetic.”
Keep imagining.
Keep believing.
Keep going.
Your God thrives on the impossible.
The Best Is Yet to Come,

I am learning that God’s call to you is also producing ripples in all of Grace’s people. Teaching us to have faith, to believe we are also part of God’s plan, that He has plans for us that are good. God is teaching us to focus on Him and what he has planned instead of worrying about all the scary “what if’s”. God is teaching us to believe and have faith!
