Kind of Pregnant...
You ever hear someone say they’re “kind of pregnant”?
Let’s be honest — that’s like saying you’re sort of flying!
You either are or you ain’t!
Nobody’s walking around saying, “Well, I’m at a solid 60% pregnant today.” Nope — it’s all or nothing!
In the same way, God doesn’t call us to be kinda committed or half full of faith.
He’s not looking for a “sorta Christian,” He’s looking for people who are all in — belly bump and all!
So buckle up, because when God starts something in you… it’s gonna grow!
There’s a holy restlessness in the air at Heritage. You can feel it. The chairs are set up, the AV upgrade is on the way, and something’s kicking in the spiritual womb.
We’re pregnant, church.
You know what that means — things are about to change.
Because once that baby comes, nothing stays the same.
Ask Mary. Ask any parent.
Babies bring sleepless nights, unexpected joy, loud cries, and divine disruption.
But most of all, they bring life.
And life is exactly what God is giving us.
It’s Easier to Raise a Baby than the Dead
Let’s be honest — resurrection is God’s department. He’s done it before, and He’s good at it. But He’s calling us to nurture new life.
Sometimes churches want to cling to corpses — to traditions that have flatlined, to “the way we used to do it.”
But listen, Lazarus was raised once; the rest of the time, Jesus went around birthing new things.
It’s easier to raise a baby than the dead.
Babies are messy, unpredictable, and loud, yes — but they’re alive. And life means movement, hunger, and growth.
That’s what God is stirring in us: a movement toward growth.
So, let’s stop embalming the past and start preparing the nursery.
We’re Making Room for Growth
Every good parent knows that when a baby’s on the way, you start rearranging the house.
You make space.
You paint a room.
You buy a crib.
You move some things around.
That’s what we’re doing at Heritage. We’re making space for new life.
Grief Share and Divorce Care — because healing hearts are fertile ground for new beginnings.
Evening Bible studies — because working folks need a chance to grow, too.
Another worship service — because babies don’t fit in old schedules. Growth demands flexibility.
And yes, my personal calling has always been Contemporary Worship — music that moves hearts, lyrics that sound like life, and worship that feels like breathing. And guess what? We’re going there.
Curtis and Steve have already helped us get the new chairs set up — bless them. Our new AV equipment is coming in early November, which will radically elevate our worship experience. We’re not changing for the sake of change; we’re living into change until growth becomes who we are.
Labor Pains and Love Pains
Every birth has its labor pains. Some of you might feel them already. Things look different. The schedule’s shifting. Worship’s got a little more volume and a lot more passion. But don’t panic — pain in labor means life is near.
We are pregnant with hope, pregnant with possibility, pregnant with purpose.
And as your pastor, I’m just the midwife.
I’m here to help deliver what God has placed inside this church.
Because I believe — with every fiber of my soul — that God is birthing something through Heritage that will bless our city, heal hearts, and bring people home to Him.
A Baby Changes Everything
Remember that phrase from the Christmas story? A baby changes everything.
That wasn’t just about Bethlehem — that’s about us. This baby we’re about to birth — this new season of life, ministry, and growth — will change everything about Heritage.
It’ll change how we worship, how we serve, how we grow, and how we love. It’ll call us to new levels of faith, flexibility, and yes — holy chaos.
So buckle up, church family. Or maybe I should say, get ready to push. Because God’s been gestating something beautiful, and it’s almost time to deliver.
Closing Thought
Let’s stop praying for revival like it’s a ghost from the past. Let’s pray like we’re parents waiting for our child to arrive — expectant, excited, ready to nurture what God brings.
Because new life is coming.
And when it comes, we won’t just hold it — we’ll raise it.
Together.
The Best Is Yet to Come,
Rev. John Roberts

This is an exciting time! Bring on the changes!
